Just Hey.

“Hey.”

It all began with a three letter word. A simple one syllable word that held so much feeling. Just one word that had taken more guts than any other thing she’d ever done.  She hadn’t known it would be the start of something new. She hadn’t known it was just the beginning of a whole new world for her.

She hadn’t expected her to reply with an easy smile and a “hey” back. She hadn’t expected that minutes after uttering that word, they would be talking about anything and everything. She hadn’t expected that she would give her her number. She hadn’t expected herself to call her the next day. She hadn’t expected their dates to be anything special. She hadn’t expected it to go on for as long as it did. She hadn’t expected her to say “I love you” and she hadn’t expected herself to reply with “I love you too.”
She hadn’t expected any of it, but it happened, and she never wished it hadn’t.

The day she said that 3 lettered word, she didn’t know she was entering a very important phase of her life. Little had she known that one day she would ask her to move in with her. Little had she known that earlier than she expected, she would be meeting her parents and that they would love her so much. Little had she known that their fights would hurt her so much and her kisses would make her feel like she was on Cloud 9. Little had she known that soon she would get down on one knee and ask her to marry her.  Little had she known that she would say yes quicker than anything in the world. Little had she known that those sparks on the night they first met would ignite into a fire, impossible to drown.

She didn’t think any of it would happen, but it did, and she never wished it hadn’t.

Today, she stood at the end of the aisle in a white dress and a bouquet of flowers in her hand. She stood at the other end in front of the minister with tears glistening in her eyes. She walked down the aisle as everybody rose and she couldn’t believe where she was. It felt as though only yesterday they were at that bar where they first met and yet it seemed like they’d been together forever.

She reached the porch where she was standing, nervously looking into her eyes.
“Hey,” she whispered.
She smiled that same easy smile she’d give her that first night they met.
“Hey,” she whispered back, and suddenly the world seemed to shift just for them and everything was perfect.

Pictures taken from my absolute favourite canon LGBTQ+ couple from my absolute favourite show Grey’s Anatomy. Also, the story is NOT about them, like at all. But their wedding was so cute I just had to show y’all.
Hope you liked it 🙂

  1. Instead of worrying about 2 people of the same sex wanting to marry, why can’t some people just mind their own business?

  2. I can understand opposition to same sex marriage on religious grounds. However, I am 100% in favor of it being legal.

  4. If I had a son who was gay or a daughter who was a lesbian, all I would tell them is that they should be with whoever makes them happy. What perplexes me is why some people can be so judgemental about the gay community when they are not adversely affected by them.

    1. Exactly my point. Why do people care what other people do or who other people love? Love is love. It knows no bounds and honestly, people just create barriers because they’re afraid of love. I’m glad you’re completely accepting of this 🙂

      1. I am not into the gay lifestyle, however, as I see it, I think that the gay community should be left in peace. On http://www.youtube.com, some people have come out as gay. Now, if someone is opposed to same sex marriage on religious grounds, that itself does not bother me. What perplexes me is how some elected officials want to deny the freedom of gay people to marry.

That was unbelievably beautiful 🙂 You’ve managed to show a single person’s happiness in a post, from a spontaneous meeting, and I love that.

    1. Yay I’m glad it turned out well! I was actually stuck on this for soooo long because I had an IDEA but executing it with respect to that first meeting was so difficult. I’m pretty proud of myself for this tbh 🙂

  6. There is nothing wrong about the matter of people being gay. Bigotry has no place in civilized society.

From the beginning, I thought of herself loving her own self, embracing herself until she started having dates with “her”. This made me realize that whether a person is LBGT, love is love and it will always be stronger.

Will have to read this because my heart flutters. xD

  12. Why is it so wrong for people of the same sex wanting to marry or be involved romantically if they are not doing anything to adversely affect other people? Bigotry and intolerance are 2 things that have no place in civilized society.

  14. For a moment there I was like “Aww so happy for them!” and then I saw ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ and I was like “Oh it’s fictional” hahaha. I don’t know why but I just find that funny!

Either way, it’s awesome how the media is slowly accepting the LBGT community. After all, we are all human beings! When a medium such as TV is actually willing to showcase such support into sensitive matters like this? Well, I just find it a beautiful thing.

I don’t watch the show but I’m pretty sure these 2 love birds have played a lot of role in many people’s lives. They just look lovely together as well. Thanks for sharing!
